Abstract
In the process of the parent Specification for the felt- or shrink-proofing of wool with an aqueous solution containing chlorine, hypochlorous acid or a salt thereof in the presence of a water-soluble alkylated or non-alkylated condensation product of formaldehyde and melamine, the chlorination is intensified, at least towards the end of the treatment, by raising the temperature of the bath from about 30 DEG C or lower to about 60 DEG C or higher. The quantity of condensation product employed may be greater than that employed in the parent Specification.
