Class 126 A terminal unit for a gas fired appliance of the balanced flue type comprises an hollow elongated box adapted to be secured within a wall on which the appliance is to be mounted, with its longer sides vertical, the box forming an air inlet ducting and having one or more air inlet apertures adjacent its upper end and connecting means adjacent its lower end so that the box may be secured in spaced relationship with the appliance, the combustion products from which are exhaust @ through an outlet ducting arranged transversely of the box at its upper end and terminating adjacent the inlet aperture or apertures. As shown applied to a water heater the unit comprises a hollow box 1 of inverted L shape, air inlet apertures 7, 8, being formed in a face plate 6 which closes the upper end of the box. Combustion air passes down the box 1 and through ducting 14, which is telescopically connected to the burner box 16, to the burners whilst the combustion products emanating from the combustion chamber 20 pass up through the heater and thence to the atmosphere via outlet duct 9 and extractor 10. The terminal unit is shown built in a cavity wall part of the inner wall 19 being removed in order to accommodate the water heater 4. The box 1 is made of asbestos cement or the like and the heater is connected to gas and water pipes 21, 22.
