Abstract
708,694. Lubricating. DAIMLER-BENZ AKT.- GES. April 30, 1952 [April 30, 1951], No. 10910/52. Class 12(3) [Also in Group XXVII] In a lubricating system for internal combustion engines, of the kind in which lubricant from a reservoir is pumped through a cooler to a second pump for supply to lubrication pumps, an excess pressure valve is placed between the cooler and the second feed pump. In the arrangement shown, oil from a sump 1 is withdrawn by a pump 3 and passed through a cooler 4 from which oil is taken by a pump 5 and passed, by way of a filter 6, to lubricating points 7. An excess pressure relief valve 9 is disposed in the circuit between the cooler 4 and the pump 5. A relief valve 10 may also be arranged in advance of the lubricating points. The pumps 3, 5 may be gear wheel pumps mounted on a common driving shaft. The cooler 4 may be arranged,on or combined with the water jacket of the engine or may be constructed to serve as such jacket. The filter 6 may be arranged in advance of the cooler 4.
