Abstract
707,327. Metal foil. ALUMINIUM-WALZWERKE SINGEN GES. Feb. 25, 1952 [March 24, 1951], No. 4900/52. Class 83 (2) A method of making a composite aluminium foil comprises applying a solution of polyethylene or polyisobutylene in a proportion between 50: 50 and 70:30 to an aluminium foil, the solvent or solvent mixture used having a boiling point of from 90 to 150‹ C. at atmospheric pressure, then driving off the solvent or solvent mixture by heating, a temperature of 100 to 150‹ C. being maintained until a plastic film is formed, and finally applying a second aluminium foil to the plastic layer when still hot. Up to 1 per cent of the polyisobutylene may be replaced by a non-saponifiable softener. The solution is preferably applied by flooding and the second aluminium foil by rolling. A composite foil with three or more aluminium foils or composite foil having a plastic layer on both faces may be obtained. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 692,535.
