Abstract

Homogeneous asphalt is produced by mixing a homogeneous asphalt p derived from an asphaltic crude oil by reduction, with a heterogeneous asphalt having a susceptibility factor less than 3.3, followed by thermal removal of at least 3 per cent. of the volatiles. Preferably not more than 35 per cent. of the mixture comprises the heterogeneous asphalt. Susceptibility factor is defined in the Specification.
