Abstract
706,152. Electrostatic filters. NEDALO, N. V. April 15, 1952 [April 18, 1951],.No. 9351/52. Class 39(1) An electrostatic precipitator comprises a helical discharge electrode 3 within a tubular collecting electrode 1, the discharge electrode being attached at its ends only, as shown by tight turns 4, to a central support wire 2 so that the turns of the helix may move freely with respect to the support wire. Mechanical oscillations set up in the helix due to the electric discharges prevent the adhesion of dust. The support wire may be of metal, possibly with an insulating covering, or entirely of an insulating material such as nylon. The helix may consist of stainless steel or of an alloy of nickel and chromium. The support wire may be kept extended by a weight or by springs. Two or more helical discharge electrodes may be arranged in the collecting electrode 1.
