Abstract

985,720. Electrostatic precipitators. W. KAUFMANN. Aug. 2, 1963 [Aug. 28, 1962], No. 30701/63. Heading B2J. The discharge electrodes 6 on a rotatable carrier 4, 5 in an electrostatic precipitator are cleaned by ring-shaped elements 7 which can slide along the lengths of the electrode under their own weight as the carrier rotates. Both the discharge electrode assemblies and the collecting electrode plates 1 are mounted side by side and parallel to the gas flow on a driving shaft 2, the discharge electrode assemblies being mounted by insulators 3 and supplied with high tension voltage through sliding contacts 8. The insulators 3 are also provided with cleaning rings. To effect cleaning, it is sufficient to swing the electrodes through a small angle in pendulum fashion instead of revolving them through 360 degrees. The cleaning rings may be provided with points to achieve discharge action.
