Abstract

705,933. Mounting rotors for dynamo-electric machines. BLACKSTONE & CO., Ltd. April 18, 1952 [May 17, 1951], No. 11594/51. Class 35 The rotor 1 of a generator is mounted on a hollow bracket 2 which is directly connected to a flywheel 3 overhung from an engine crankshaft. An exciter 12 mounted on the outside of the stator casing 21 is driven by bell 22 from pulleys 11. Slip-rings 10 and pulleys 11 are mounted on a disc 9 carried by the bracket 2 at the remote end of the flywheel. If D.C. is required, the slip rings 10 would be replaced by a commutator and no exciter would be required. Cooling air is drawn in through the rotor and directed over the stator and rotor windings by fan blades 14, 24 carried by the bracket 2 and rotor 1 respectively.
