Class 31 (1) Each combined trimming and chamfering knife of the parent Specification, which is referred to, is replaced by separate trimming and chamfering knives which are movable independently of each other into engagement with the adjacent work clamp. Co-operating with the upper work clamp 10 are a trimming knife 202 and a separate chamfering knife 204 each of which is fixed to the outer end portion of a holder which at its inner end is mounted to swing, independently of the other, upon a horizontal pin 206. A similar set of knives co-operate with the lower work clamp 12 and are mounted to swing independently of one another about a horizontal pin 214. The chamfering knives are urged away from each other to engage the work clamps by means of the ends of a spring 218 encircling a pin 220, and the trimming knives are similarly acted upon by the ends of a spring 222 also encircling the pin 220. The trimming knife 202 has a cutting edge 224, Fig. 4, and the chamfering knife 204 has a cutting edge 230 which extends obliquely across the line of cut of the trimming knife and is disposed immediately behind the trailing portion of the trimming knife, which trailing portion is provided with an oblique chamfer 240 to provide ample clearance for the chip cut off by the chamfering knife.
