703,577. Wind-motors. FOLLAND AIRCRAFT Ltd., VINCENT, H. E., and RUCKLEY, A. L. Oct. 2, 1952 [Oct. 3 1951] No. 23060/51. Class 110 (3) A mounting for a wind motor comprises a tripod one leg 13 of which lies in the vertical plane containing the motor axis and is mounted on a vertical pivot 15, 16 at its lower end whilst the other two legs 10 have wheels or rollers 17 at their lower ends and run on a circular track 18 concentric with said vertical pivot. the legs 10 are disposed in a common vertical plane whilst the leg 13 is disposed in a vertical plane normal thereto. The legs 10 are interconnected at their upper ends at 11 and are connected at their lower ends by a beam. The legs 10, 13 are connected by a quick releasable coupling, such as a pin connection, to a head 14 comprising a pin 19, a cowling 21 and a frame 22; the centre of gravity of the-head 14 being in tne plane of the legs 10. The wind motor comprises sails 23 mounted on a shaft 24 driving, through a gearbox 25, an electric generator 26, the output of which is taken through slip rings concentric with the turntable 16. A power operated winch is mounted in the head 14 For operation on a cable passing, over a pulley supported between the legs 10 in order to raise or lower said head.
