Abstract
703,196. Vehicle rest bars. BENNETT, H., and EMPSALL, W. A. Aug. 29, 1952 [Sept. 4, 1951], No. 20818/51. Class 108(2), In a device for attachment to a perambulator, comprising a leg or legs which is or are mounted so as to be pivotal from an out-of-the-way position to a position of use or contact with, or near to, the ground and supporting the perambulator against accidental tipping, and having means for locking the leg or legs in operative or non- operative positions, the or each leg is secured to a sleeve rotatable on a tubular component in each end of which is an extension carrying at its end a clamp adapted for attachment to the springs or an axle of the perambulator. In the arrangement shown, a sleeve b rotatably mounted on a tubular member a between collars c, c carries a leg d the free end of which is provided with a rubber or the like groundengaging ferrule e. Extensions k, k slidable within either end of the member a are provided with clamping members m, m by which the device is secured to springs on opposite sides of the perambulator or to an axle thereof, the extensions k, k being locked in adjusted positions by locking screws n, n. A spring-loaded plunger operated by a head g<2> engages one or the other of two spaced holes in the member a, corresponding to a lowered or raised position of the leg d. The leg d may be adjustable in length and may be fitted with a protector sleeve d<1>. Two spaced legs d may be carried by the member a and may be interconnected and movable together, or individually movable. The device may be fitted at each end of the perambulator. .
