700,885. Knitting-machines. HEMPHILL CO. Sept. 17, 1951 [Nov. 14, 1950], No. 21822/51. Class 74 (2) A cylinder - and - dial machine has a member 6 which positively closes the latches of the dial needles just prior to the transference of the loops on these needles to cylinder needles. The member 6 is carried in a pivoted holder 1 adjustable by a screw 8, against the action of a spring 9, to position the member 6 nearer to or further away from the needles. As the dial needles are withdrawn, after being advanced to enable the loops to clear their latches, prior to the transference of the loops, the member 6 engages the latches thereby causing them to close.
