Abstract
700,539. Ingot moulds. VITKOVICKE ZELEZARNY KLEMENTA GOTTWALDA and NECKA, J. Oct. 4, 1951 [Oct. 4, 1950], No. 23176/51. Class 83 (1) In order to prevent piping, an ingot mould 1 is provided within the head with a refractory insert 4 having a bore open at its upper end and closed at its lower end except for an aperture 7, of smaller cross-section than the bore. The insert is suspended from the top of the mould by wires 5 which project into recesses 6 of the insert and which may be shortened or lengthened to adjust the position of the insert to the desired depth of the ingot to be cast. The insert may be in semi-circular parts pressed against the wall of the mould by wooden wedges 8. The metal may be poured into the mould at the bottom.
