Abstract

699,962. Screw conveyers. JENNINGS, H. W. K. (Smidth & Co. Aktieselskab, F. L.). Nov. 12, 1951 [Dec. 5, 1950], No. 29775/50. Class 78 (i). In a conveyer for feeding material to a compartment, the pressure in which is not atmospheric, two impellers 3, 4 of opposite hand are provided which force the material to an outlet 8 between them against the resistance of a valve 12. This valve controls the outlet and is forced open by the compressed material which resists the passage of air. The valve is loaded by a movable counterweight 14. Material may be fed to each impeller instead of to one as shown. The casing may have several outlets and pairs of impellers associated with each one.
