699,825. Hedge-cutters. DAVIES, D. R. April 15, 1952 [Jan 13, 1951], No. 1004/51. Class 6(ii) A hedge-cutting attachment for a tractor comprises cutting-means, variable in height and in distance from the tractor, and driven by a power take-off shaft through gearing adaptable automatically to such variations in height and distance. Reciprocating cutters 30; 31 are mounted on an arm 18 projecting from a slide vertically movable in a frame 13, 14. Such vertical adjustment is effected from a handle within reach of the tractor driver through pulleys 20 and a cable 19. The cutter angle relative to the arm 18 is varied by moving a pin 34 into a different hole in a hub or disc 33. The frame 13 is pivoted on spindles 11 mounted on the brackets 7 and is tilted to alter the relative spacing of the tractor and cutter by a handle rotating a pulley 39 connected to a cable 36 anchored to a strut 35. The movable cutter is driven from the take-off shaft 6 through a flexible shaft 26 and gearing 25, 27 driving a cranked disc on the spindle 25a.
