Abstract
697,888. Automatic exchange systems. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Nov. 2, 1951 [Nov. 6, 1950], No. 25675/51. Class 40 (iv). [Also in Group XIX] A circuit for receiving or counting out pulses uses n relays for registering 2<SP>n-1</SP> pulses, operation of the last relay in the series changing over a pair of potentials normally used for changing from receiving to counting out. Reversal of contact i energizes winding A1, relay A locking up over winding A2. At the end of the impulse, B energizes and locks up. The second impulse releases A by short-circuiting both windings, the end of the impulse energizing C. The third impulse re-energizes A, the end of the impulse releasing B. The process continues as shown in Fig. 1 with relay A energized from the beginning of each odd to the beginning of each even pulse, relay B changing over after every odd pulse, relay C changing over after the 2nd, 6th, 10th, 14th pulse and so on. Relay E energizes after the eighth impulse and holds until both windings are short-circuited at the end of the sixteenth pulse when the circuit is back to normal. Operation of relay T (not shown) causes pulse relay I (not shown) to supply counting-out impulses. Modification. As an alternative the relays may be de-energized by counter-magnetization through the main winding by connecting the pulse contact to a potential between battery and earth.
