697,062. Electromagnetic relays. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Sept. 25, 1951 [Sept. 28, 1950], No. 22398/51. Class 38 (v) In an A.C. relay having a short-circuited winding 8 on a portion 6 of the magnet pole, the armature 2 is provided with slots 9 or other means to prevent the occurrence of eddy current in that part of the armature opposite the other part 7 of the pole. The arrangement produces a greater phase difference between the fluxes emanating from the parts 6, 7 and hence a greater minimum force acting on the armature. Instead of providing slots 9 in the part of the armature opposite 7, that part may be made of powdered iron or ferrite or other material of low conductivity.
