695,714. Paper containing protein-filaments &c. WIGGINS, TEAPE & CO. (1919), Ltd. May 24, 1951. [May 31, 1950] No. 13663/50. Class 96. Paper &c. is made by cutting and beating protein-filaments, e.g. made from casein, soya bean, or ground nuts, e.g. to “ in. or shorter length, adding alkali, e.g. 1¢ per cent. caustic soda, or 4 to 5 per cent sodium carbonate, or potassium or ammonium hydroxide to swell the filaments, and felting on an ordinary papermaking machine. The protein filaments may act as a binder for filaments of viscose, glass, cellulose acetate, or wool &c.
