693,156. Tankers. NORSK HYDRO-ELEKTRISK KVAELSTOFAKTIESELSKAB. Oct. 9, 1951. No. 23489/51. Class 113 (ii). In a tanker having tanks arranged in a number of rows in the longitudinal direction of the ship and adapted to contain a liquid gas under superatmospheric pressure, the tanks being connected with one another across said longitudinal direction in groups of tanks, each group comprising one tank from each of two or more rows, the uppermost part of one tank of each group 2, 3, 4 is situated at a higher level than the other tank or tanks of the group so as to provide a common expansion space 5 for all the tanks of the group, pipeconnections 9, 10, 11 being introduced through the upper parts of the tanks and extending downwards close to the bottoms of the tanks for connecting the lower parts of the tanks of each group, pipe-connections 6, 7 being provided for connecting the upper parts of the tanks of the group, a common header system 19 being provided for loading and discharging liquid to and from the tanks of each group, and a common header system 21 for supply and discharging gas to and from the tanks. All the tanks in a group may consist of vertical pressure tanks, or of a number of vertical tanks and a horizontal tank arranged at a, higher level than the vertical tanks.
