Abstract

693,043. Potato &c. peelers. BEANES & CO. (1929), Ltd., E. April 5, 1951 [Aug. 10, 1950], No. 19920/50. Class 28 (ii). In a, hand operated turning-lathe type of potato &c. peeler the peeling tool 14 is made of two strips 16, 17 of metal bent, as shown, at the top,'to form a cutting tip 19 and a feeler nose 20 and at their lower ends to form a bearing for the horizontal pivot 13 and a stop 18, the strips 16, 17 being welded where they meet. The spike 7 is composed of three or more blades radiating from its axis. The threads of the screwed spindle 5 are engaged for forward feed by the end abutment 24 of a spring loaded lever 25 which when lifted by hand allows the coiled up helical spring 28 to reverse the swivel plate 10 thus resetting the cutter 14 and through 21 pushing back the spindle 5. The frame of the machine is composed of metal strips 1, 2 and 3 bent as shown and welded together. A split sleeve bearing 4 for the spindle 5 is fixed in the bight of the inverted U shaped upright 3.
