Abstract

395,105. Slicing vegetables, suet, soap, &c. BRAY, W. and BRAY, A., (trading as BRAY, W. & A.), 81, Moss Lane, Swinton, Manchester. Oct. 28, 1932, No. 9118. [Class 5 (i).] In an appliance for shredding orange or lemon peel and for slicing suet, soap, carrots, or other vegetables, of the type comprising a base or frame in which a blade or blades is or are mounted, and a holder with a cavity therein to contain the material to be sliced or shredded, so that the latter projects through the bottom of the holder, the said holder being adapted to slide in and be guided by the base or frame in order to pass the material over the blade or blades, and in which the blade or blades is or are arranged at an angle to the direction of travel of the holder, screw-threaded means are provided for adjusting the relative height of the blade or blades, and the face of the base, frame or platform upon which the material bears whilst the holder is being traversed. A holder a comprises ledges a<1> riding in grooves in parts b attached to the base or frame c in which is mounted a double edged blade d, at an angle of 45‹ with the direction of travel of the holder a. The height of the blade d, Fig. 3, is adjusted by screws e : a presser f having a collar f<1> serves to feed the material downwards in the holder and also serves as a means for traversing the holder. In a modification, Fig. 4, the blade d is fixed and the face c<1> upon which the material rests is adjustable by screws g and nuts i.
