Abstract
689,948. Balls for games. LING, F. Nov. 20, 1951. [June 14, 1951] No. 14098/51. Class 132 (ii). A sports ball case 13 having a bladder-insertion hole or slit 14 in one panel or at a seam is provided with an inner flap 16 stitched to the case at 15 and having a smaller hole 17 accommodating the bladder inflation tube 26 and a second flap 20 having a hole 22 engaging the tube 26 to hold it in place. Flap 20 is either secured to the free end of flap 16 or has a serrated tail 19 pulled through a slit 18 in flap 16 or is stitched to the case 13. In a modification in which the bladder is provided with an inflation valve, the hole 22 engages behind a projecting rim of the valve. In this form the holes 14, 17, 22 are aligned whereas, as shown, hole 22 is out of alignment with holes 14, 17. The Provisional Specification is restricted to a form of case in which the second flap is omitted.
