Abstract
689,754. Trenching-machines SCHNEIDER, K. A. Nov. 6, 1950 [Sept. 2, 1950], No. 27116/50. Class 68(i) [Also in Group XXXVI] In an apparatus for cable-laying there is provided a rotating cylinder 6 having on its periphery cutting tools 7 that are inclined outwards and downwards, said cutting tools dislodging the soil from in front of the cylinder, rolling it around the periphery thereof and depositing it at the rear in a compressed state so that there is no increase in the volume of the soil, whilst the cable 9, which is guided through the cylinder in a concentric tube 8, is laid beneath the displaced soil. The power unit and digging unit may either be mounted in a balanced position on the undercarriage of a single axle vehicle or can be slidably mounted on a carriage that is rotatable about a. horizontal axis on a multiaxle vehicle.
