Abstract
688,743. Carrier bags. PETERSEN, 1. M. J. May 31, 1951, No. 12879/51. Class 133 In carrier bags of the kind having two hand holes 6, 61 and 7, 71 in the reinforcement of each side wall 1, 2 registering with one another so that when the upper portion of the bag is folded about a line 8 all the hand holes register, at least two of the hand holes 6, 7 are provided with a tongue 9, 10 extending from the edge of the hole which is lowermost in the folded position, at least one tongue being passed through the hand hole of the opposite wall to cover the opening in the mouth of the bag. The tongues 9, 10 are formed by the portions partially cut out to form the holes 6, 7, and in the closure of the bag the tongue 9 is inserted through the hole 7, the edge of the bag folded on the line 8 and the tongue 9 inserted through the holes 6<SP>1</SP>, 7<SP>1</SP> and glued to the outer side of the wall 1. The tongue 10 extends along and may be glued to the outer side of the outer wall 2. The two tongues may be formed on one side wall only or four tongues may be provided one for each hand hole.
