Abstract
688,717. Weighting arrangements for textile drawing &c. frames. T.M.M. (RESEARCH), Ltd., and PIERREPONT, D. Sept. 10, 1951 [Sept. 21, 1950], No. 23177/50. Classes 120(i), 120(ii) and 120(iii) A drawing frame or like textile machine is provided with a cam which when rotated raises and supparts the roller weights and is characterized in that the cam may be driven from a shaft continuously rotating independently of the rollers through the medium of a clutch mechanism. Bars 14, Fig. 1, pass through apertures 13 in the weights 12 provided at each end of each roller, and are engaged by a cam 15 provided at each end of the bars. Both cams are driven by a worm and wheel drive from a shaft 21 which is mechanically coupled to one part of a clutch 36, the other part of which is splined to a continuously rotating shaft 35. The clutch may be engaged and the cam rotated by depressing one arm 40 of a spring-controlled bell crank lever 37. A pointer 44 is provided to indicate the extent to which the weights have been raised. A separate manual control is provided by a handle 22 which may engage the shaft 21 through a spring-controlled dog clutch 24. Continued rotation of the cams beyond the position where the weights are raised to the maximum height enables the weights to be lowered. Means for stopping the production part of the machine may be actuated by the depression of the arm 40, or a bolt 46 which is raised bv a cam 45 attached to the same shaft 16 as the cam 15 may operate an electric contact (not shown) to stop the production part of the machine. In its raised position the bolt 46 may engage the setting on bar 48 to prevent this part of the machine being restarted whilst the rollers are raised. Specification 131,863, [Class 120(ii)], is referred to.
