687,355. Roofs. BOULT, P. T. O. Nov. 2, 1950 [Nov. 18, 1949], No. 29519/49. Class 20(iv) The principal rafters of trussed roofs covered by metal units each comprising a load bearing member 10 with a sheet or cladding 11 extending from its wider edge and engaging along the opposite side the one within the other with an adjacent unit are constituted by the load bearing members of corresponding units placed on either side of the ridge. The lower end of each rafter is supported on the wall to which it is secured by a bracket 13 and its upper end is bolted at the ridge to the other rafter. One or more purlins 15 are bolted to the rafters the number depending upon the roof span and a tie beam 18 is secured to the lower end of each rafter or bracket 13. Struts 19 extend from the nurlins to the tie beams and another strut 21 shown as of circular section with an eye 22 at its upper end bolted to the rafter is also secured to the tie beam near to the point of connection of the other strut.
