Abstract

686,942. Draught &c. excluders. MORRIS MOTORS, Ltd. Nov. 15, 1951 [Dec. 14, 1950], No. 30498/50. Class 20(iii) A draught &c. seal for doors, &c. comprises a flexible strip of rubber &c. e.g sponge rubber, incorporating a sealing element 4 and a supporting element 5 of substantially U-section formed integrally with or-otherwise united with the sealing element, and arranged to embrace a metal flange 6 providing an abutment around the door &c. opening, in combinaton with a rigid frame-like channel section metal retainer 1 which clasps the supporting portion of the strip while embracing the abutment flange loosely, is pre-shaped to conform with the opening, and is butt jointed to enable it to fit over the flange. The strip forming the retainer preferably has one limb longer than the other and inturned as at 2. The sealing element may be tubular, as shown, or may, for example, be formed of sponge rubber. The supporting portion 5 is fitted in the strip 1 and the assembly applied to the flange around the entire opening, accommodating any variations in the flange. The abutting ends of strip 1 may be screwed &c. to flange 6. The exposed surface of the strip 1 may be finished, e.g by electroplating or covering with fabric. Specification 645,558 is referred to.
