686,284. Floor mats and rugs. RUIZ, M. B. Feb. 6,1951 [Feb. 7, 1950], No. 2883/51. Class 142(iv) A device to prevent mats from slipping comprises a band of textile material 1 with one or more rubber strips 2 secured to one face of the band and having longitudinal marginal portions 3 not covered by the rubber and by which the band may be sewn to the underside of the mat by stitches. The rubber may be stuck or vulcanized to the band or, in a modification, rubber strips may be woven into the textile material 1 as warp threads.
