Abstract

495,701. Mops. SIMPSON, A., PARKINSON, F. A., and BABBS, L. March 18, 1937, No. 7924. [Class 19] A mop for cleaning floors and for other purposes, made of twisted strands or thrums b, Fig. 3, of cotton or like fibres, is characterized by separators c, d, of woven fabric or other flexible material dividing the strands into groups, Fig. 6. The mops may be of the ordinary kind or of the band type used in floor cleaning machines. The mop. may comprise a strong endless webbing a, Fig. 1, to which a plurality of mop elements are affixed. Each element consists of thrums as in Fig. 3 with the strips c, d staggered and stitched thereto. The separators prevent the ends of the thrums interlocking. In a modification, Fig. 5, the thrums are separated by a wide strip f on one side and two narrow strips g, h. The elements are doubled and laced through eyelets to a band. The separators may be made of rubber-impregnated fabric, rubber, or leather.
