Abstract

686,267. Moulds for presses. PULP INDUSTRIES, Ltd., and DAVY, D. C. July 24, 1951 [July 25, 1950], No. 18503/50. Class 87 (ii). Opposed pairs of side walls 1 of a mould are mounted so that in their opening and closing movements they are moved by cranks in an arcuate path in opposite directions and are maintained parallel to each other. The walls are mounted by means of lugs 2 on two pairs of upper and lower crank rods 3 extending between pairs of cranks 4. The cranks are rotated in unison by means of rack-and-pinion gears 7, 8. The racks are set in motion after a lower platen (not shown) has fallen a sufficient distance to detach itself from the moulded article. The cranks then move downwardly from the horizontal (closed) position and pull the article away from the top plate (not shown). The article is released and the cranks move into the horizontal (open) position shown. The two pairs of side walls may move simultaneously by or in sequence.
