Class 52(ii) Relates to bed-settees of the kind in which the bed bottom is in hinged sections, which, in folded position, are positioned such that the outer end section is superposed on the intermediate section while the inner section is disposed behind the back support of the settee. As shown the bed sections comprise an inner section 29, outer section 30 and main and auxiliary intermediate sections 31, 32 the bed being detachably connected to a end and back upholstered structure 23, 24 provided with a back support 26 from which depend links 58, 59 detachably connected to the inner bed section 29 and also by means of a subframe comprising a pair of brackets 44 interconnected by a tube 50 surrounding which is a torsion tube carrying arms 45, the sub-frame 44 being detachably connected to the end members 23 by fastenings 51. The arms 45 are pivoted to plates 40 secured to the bed sections 31 and balancing springs 46. are arranged as shown. Below the bed sections are arranged the leg moving links 62, 64, 63 the adjacent ends of links 63, 64 being hinged to the foot-end member 65. In folding the end section 30 is folded over to lie parallel with the intermediate section 31, the legs 21 being folded away by the links 63 &c. During this action spacing posts '76 are brought into position to abut the section 31 and support the load placed on the section 30 when in settee position. The bed is then swung on the arms 45 into the position shown in Fig. 6, continued swinging to the rear then bringing the bed section 29 behind the back 25 and the other sections, in folded position, to rest on the member 23 of the support structure 15. Latching means are provided comprising a bar 79 and links 77, 78 provided with notched slots by means of which pins on the various members may be engaged and thereby lock the bed sections in position.
