Abstract
680,411. Angular bending. HUET, A., and COMPAGNIE DES SURCHAUFFEURS. March 9, 1951 [March 9, 1950], No. 5759/51. Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv). In bending &c. a tube of large diameter by heating the inside of the bend the tube is deformed in a preliminary operation to oval or ovoid shape to facilitate bending by reducing the moment of inertia of the section. The tube is deformed to ovoid section, Fig. 4a, and is bent after heating on a grooved former b, Fig. 4, as described in Specification 649,638. The legs of the bend may be further closed in a reciprocating bender set forth in Specification 663,427 and the tube section restored to circular shape by a reciprocating bender, Fig. 9 (not shown).
