679,518. Feeding poultry. VISI-CHICK BROODER CO., Ltd. July 2, 1951 [June 30, 1950], No. 16353/50. Class 5(ii) Scraping devices C and food hoppers D are moved to and fro across a multi-tier battery cage by endless ropes or the like E<SP>1</SP>, E<SP>2</SP>, one at the front and one at the back of the battery. As shown, each rope passes around pulleys e, e<SP>1</SP> on the frame A, the pulleys being so arranged that there are two lengths in front of each compartment, which in this case are arranged in pairs. The scrapers are attached to the lower lengths and the hoppers to the upper. The pulleys e are attached to shafts f extending across the battery so that the two ropes move in unison, and jockey pulleys e<SP>2</SP> are provided to maintain the ropes in tension. The hopper may be of the form described in Specification 679,519.
