The bar which connects two adjacent cells in the parent Specification is replaced by two socket portions e connected to the plates of the cells. A conducting pin a engages the two sockets as shown in Fig. 2. A layer of cement may be applied at i to the joint between the faces of the insulating material f to prevent access of acid and moisture. End cells may be connected by a jumper d, the ends of which enter the sockets e of adjacent cells as shown in Fig. 3.
