Abstract

678,176. Liquid fuel burners. BUISKOOL, E. J., and JONG, A. DE. Jan. 30, 1947, No. 23307/49. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 8, 1949.] Divided out of 678,147. Class 75(i) In an oil fuel burner of the kind in which forced draught is obtained by means of a screw fan mounted on the outer wall of an air box or duct supplying combustion air to a combustion chamber, the blades 1, 1<SP>1</SP> of the fan are of aerofoil construction and have a width decreasing towards the outer ends thereof, the fan hub and a central guide piece 29 being each of a diameter approaching in size to that of the fan, around which is mounted a coaxial tube, and a burner tube 29 extends through the hub and guide piece so that the main outlet ducts of the fan merge into the combustion zone. The fan is driven by a turbine 2<SP>1</SP> and the air inlet 62. is controlled by a valve member 61 for varying the proportion of air driving the fan blades 1, 1<SP>1</SP> to that passing around a byepass conduit 64. Two concentric series of blades 30, 30<SP>1</SP> at the fan outlet produce air streams rotating in opposite directions. Branch channels 57 controlled by a ring valve 65 direct air around the end of the nozzle for cleaning purposes. The burner 29 is of the spill type.
