Abstract
675,825. Dental handpieces. GARNIER & FILS, E. Nov. 27, 1950 [Dec. 5, 1949], No. 28953/50. Class 81 (ii). A dental handpiece has a longitudinal rod acting through a pressure block to close a drill chuck and spring- loaded in a direction to close it, the chuck being released by a lever, pivoted on the body, which withdraws the rod against the action of the spring. The double-ended chuck 15 is carried in a rotating sleeve 14 mounted in bearing bushes 17, 18. The driving spindle 22 is urged towards the left by a spring 24 bearing against a shoulder 23 so that a pressure block 21 tends to close the chuck. The release lever 26 is pivoted on the edge of a collar 28, around the body, and, when depressed, bears against a shoulder 35 on the drive rod 22, thereby relieving the pressure on the chuck.
