Abstract
674,834. Refractory substances. SLOVENSKE MAGNEZITOVE ZAVODY, NARODNY PODNIK. Dec. 17, 1947 [Aug. 31, 1943], No. 33258/47. Class 22 Magnesite bricks which are unaffected by temperature changes without the addition of foreign substances, are prepared by employing, as a bond for the grains of sintered magnesite, a sintered magnesia ground to a particle size of less than 40u, the grinding being effected in the presence of water whereby a certain amount of hydration occurs. The grinding and hydration may be effected in one or more stages. The powdered material may be further activated by treatment with an electrolyte such as sulphite lye. From 15 to 30 per cent, preferably under 20 per cent of the powdered material is employed. Other materials employed to prevent temperature changes in magnesite bricks, e.g. alumina or chromite may be included.
