Abstract

674,301. Motor cycle frames. INNOCENTI SOC. GEN. PER L'INDUSTRIA METALLURGICA E MECCANICA. Julv 17, 1950 [Nov. 11. 1949]. No. 17847/50. Classes 136(i) and 136(iii) A motor cycle has a frame comprising a steering head sleeve 2, a single main tube 1 having a horizontal portion 5 extending beneath a foot rest 9 and terminating at a rear bracket 3 which carries the engine, the frame also including an arched saddle support 4 of smaller diameter welded to the horizontal portion 5 adjacent the engine bracket 3. A petrol tank 7 is supported underneath the frame, the saddle support 4 fitting into a longitudinal groove in the tank. A luggage rack 8 and mudguard 8<SP>1</SP> are supported on the rear part of the tube 4. In a modification shown in Figs. 4 and 5, the tube 4 extends backwardly at 11 to form a bearing for a fairing which comprises a central rib 12 permanently fixed to the frame and two detachable side hoods 13, 14. Brackets 15 are welded to the tube 11 and support the ribs 12. A gutter 16 is formed on each side of the central rib 12 to engage the edges of the hoods 13, 14. A cam latch 18 locks the hoods to the frame.
