Abstract
673,636. Toy guns. LANGSON MANUFACTURING CO. April 5, 1948, No. 9461/48. Class 132 (iii). In a toy gun of the piston-operated paper-bursting type as described, for example, in Specification 481,162, a guideway G, which is integral with the gun housing 10 and extends lengthwise of the latter above the piston rod 22, is provided for the expended portion of the paper strip P which is fed rearwardly therethrough by a resilient pawl 72 mounted on a link 38 of the trigger mechanism. One end of the link 38 is pivotally connected at 40 to the trigger 36 and, normally, a pin 46 at the other end of the yoke engages a recess 48 in the lower edge of the rod 22 under the action of a spring 42 associated with said pivot 40; the link 38 also mounts, by a pivot 62, a link 60 which is connected at one end to a pair of arms 52, the latter extending between guide lugs on the muzzle plate 28 and terminating in a clamping ring 50 for sealing the paper against the mouth of the muzzle grommet 30, and is formed at its other end with a cam 64. The arrangement is such that, as the trigger 36 is cocked, the link 38 retracts the piston 20 against the action of a spring 32, the pawl 72 simultaneously pulls the paper strip rearwardly a step, and, towards the end of the stroke of the piston, the clamping ring 50 is pressed against the grommet 30, the cam 64 finally engaging a rivet 11 in the housing 10 to cause the link 38 to pivot and withdraw its pin 46 from the recess 48 and permit release of the piston 20; during the return stroke of the trigger the pin 46 rides along the lower edge of the rod 22 and keeps the pawl 72 away from the paper until the trigger is fully restored and the pin 46 and recess 48 re-engage. A tube 70 extends forwardly from the ring 50 and functions to intensify the noise produced by the bursting paper.
