672,996. Making nuts. LEHRE, F. Sept. 15, 1949 [Sept. 17, 1948], No. 23818/49. Class 83 (ii). Self-locking nuts, having two pairs of diametrically-opposed slots axially and angularly spaced and of the general type described in Specification 505,291, [Group XXV], are subjected to an initial axial deformation sufficient to produce a permanent set of approximately twice the amount of the maximum tolerance allowed between the nut and bolt threads. The deformation is effected by passing the nuts between rolls.
