796,510. Locking nuts. CRANBERRY C. H. Sept. 21, 1956, No. 28962/56. Class 89(1) A self-locking nut comprises a body 1 with a screwed-bore 7a and a number of chordal-slots, e.g. two diametricallyopposed slots 2, 3, extending through the body-wall leaving posts 6, 7 and forming unbroken lips 4, 5. The lips are deformed axially of the body and, in addition, the posts are deformed radially inwards of the body. Both lips may be deformed towards the body or alternatively one lip may be deformed towards and the other away from the body.
