Abstract

672,729. Two-way transmission. DEHN, S. G. (Automatic Electric Laboratories, Inc.). Aug. 11, 1949, No. 20929/49. Class 40 (iv). In a two-way carrier current terminal equipment a balanced modulator and an amplifier effect the transference of signals both from a low-frequency line 1 to a high-frequency line 73 and vice versa. In the arrangement shown, the audio signal from line 1 is applied to the centre taps of the modulator transformers 33 and 35 via transformers 11 and 19 and a resistor 17 which is of such a value as to absorb approximately half the signal so that the arrangement comprises a differential transformer. The modulated output, after amplification, is passed via a directional filter 63 to the H.F. line and the carrier is suppressed by a tuned circuit 58, 60. H.F. signals are also applied to the modulator through the transformer 19 via a directional filter 65, but the L.F. output is in this case selected by a low-pass filter 79 and applied to line 1 at the points 81 and 83 of the hybrid.
