Abstract

672,397. Windows, doors. PERSSON, E. S. March 23,1950 [March 10, 1950], No. 7350/50. Class 20(iii) A window structure comprises two or more outer casements and two or more inner casements, each outer casement being coupled with an inner casement so that the casements swing in synchronism in opposite directions, the coupling means being mounted above and/or below the casements to leave a free space between them. As shown in Fig: 6, opposed casements 42 are coupled by arms 26, 28 having end pins 60. which slide in grooves 29 in a plate 58 on the casement frame 10 the arms 26, 28 being pivoted at 62 and meshed together at. 64. A lever 68 is arranged to engage the teeth 64 and lock the casements in. any desired position. Boxlike compartments 84, Fig 8, may be provided in the upper and lower window frame members to accommodate either a folded blind 40, Fig 6, in which case channel parts 72 are provided, or a venetian blind, (not shown).. The blind when fitted extends in the space which is still left between the casements when they are closed. The; arms 26; 28 in this case are pivoted by means of pins 92 supported in flanges 88, 90 extending, laterally from the boxes 84. Coupling means between the pivots 92 are housed in the space between a box 84 and its corresponding window frame supporting member. In a modification, Fig. 3, the coupling means comprises a pair of arms 30, 32 each of which is pivoted at one end to a casement, the other ends of the two arms being joined by a pin 36 which is slidable in a groove 38 formed in the window frame. Casements 12, 14 may be locked respectively to casements 16, 18 when they are in the closed position.
