Abstract

671,684. Spinning spindles. SCRAGG & SONS, Ltd., E., and FINDLOW, E. June 8, 1950 [Aug. 11, 1949], No. 20880/49. Class 12 (i). The support 4 of a spinning spindle is pivotally carried by a swing arm 2 on a vertical spindle 1 and has its outer edge screw-threaded to receive an oil cup 7 of transparent material. A nut-like protuberance 7a enables the cup to be screwed on to the support 4. A cover-plate 8, detachably secured to the top of the transparent cup 7, fits round the flange 9a of the spindle wharf 9b and has an oil hole 10 in register with a passage 11, in the support 4, which contains a filter 12. The lower end of the spindle bolster 5 receives nuts which adjust a compression spring 14. A footstep bearing 15 is lubricated from the cup 7 through radial holes 16 in the bolster 5. A trigger 17 is secured to the bolster 5 and retains the spinning spindle in place.
