Abstract
671,627. Magnetometers. OFFICE NATIONAL D'ETUDES ET DE RECHERCHES AERONAUTIQUES. July 14, 1950 [July 15, 1949], No. 17638/50. Class 37. [Also in Group XXXV] Relates to magnetometers comprising a winding fed with A.C. and enclosing a saturable core so that the field within which the inagnetometer lies produces oscillations of twice the frequency of the A.C. in the winding or in a second winding round the core. According to the invention, the core is of ellipsoidal shape and composed of laminae, wires or a rolled sheet. As shown in Fig. 1, laminµ 1, 2 are assembled to form a core, while in Fig. 4, the core is formed of nested cylinders; in Fig. 6, wires are assembled to form a core, and in Fig. 9, a single sheet is rolled to form a core of the appropriate shape. The laminµ, wires or sheet are preferably insulated by mica or by coating with magnesium oxide.
