668,481. Washing-machines. KNOWLTON, C. O. Jan. 3, 1950, No. 142/50. Class 138 (ii). In a washing-machine having a work agitating drum 12 provided with openings closed by doors 13 and mounted in a casing 10 so as to be movable through an opening in the casing to a work unloading position, a U-shaped apron guard 17 mounted on a support 19 is movable from an inoperative depending position to a horizontal position in which its inner curved edge portion overlies the upper edge of a tub 15 so as to prevent work from dropping to the floor when being discharged from the drum. The curved inner edge of the apron guard may have a reinforcing flange 21 adapted to enter the opening in the tub and thus interlock the tub and machine. The guard is preferably hinged to the support 19 so that it may also be swung to an upwardly inclined position in which it is releasably held by a latch, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown). The apron may be of double form, long enough to serve for two containers. The tubs 15 are insertable in mated pairs into a rotary liquid extractor.
