Abstract
A dry cleaning and extracting machine has a horizontal cylindrical tub 4 adapted to be partially filled with a cleaning solution, a drum 6 having an uninterrupted cylindrical inner surface perforated throughout, a single diametrical imperforate wall 80 fixed to the interior of the drum and having a plurality of longitudinally extending spaced ridges 86, 88 on each side of the diametrical wall, and means for rotating the drum 6 within the tub 4. The tub 4 comprises a cylindrical wall 14 and end plates 16, 18 connected by diagonal braces (Fig. 3, not shown). The tub 4 has a vapour outlet 22, liquid inlets 24, 26, and a hinged door 10. The drum 6 has doors 54, 56 hinged at their inner edges to open outwardly and downwardly through the opening for the door 10. The doors 54, 56 have latches 58, 60 operated by handles 62. Separate motors for cleaning and spin drying (Fig. 2, not shown) are mounted on the end plate 18. A shallow trough 90 <PICT:0776114/III/1> <PICT:0776114/III/2> having discharge outlets 92, 94 extends for the full length of the tub 4.
