Abstract
668,441. Eddy-current machines. WINTHER, M. P. Jan. 16, 1950 [May 6, 1949], No. 1003/50. Class 35. In a machine such as an eddy-current brake, dynamometer or slip coupling with one member of imbricated pole form generally as described in Specification 658,311, the imbricated polepieces extend axially slightly beyond the inner edge of rings of good conducting material provided on the other member which is a magnetic annulus. As shown, the pole-pieces 11, 13 extend about one-sixteenth of an inch over the inner edges of the rings 15 and terminate above the centre lines of these rings. The coil 3 may be replaced by a permanent magnet.
