Abstract

668,228. Stuffing-box substitutes. KELSEY-HAYES WHEEL CO. Jan. 17, 1950. [Jan. 31, 1949] No. 1263/50. Class 122(v) [Also in Group XXXIV] In a coulter hub assembly, sealing means at each end of the hub 2 comprise a channel shaped ring 10 secured to the hub 2, a non-rotatable cap 14 having a peripheral flange extending within the ring 10, and a sealing ring 17 which is compressed between the members 10, 14. The hub 2 is rotatably mounted on a bushing 8 having a bolt 6 passing therethrough, by means of which the assembly is secured to supporting members 1. The cap is clamped between the member 1 and end of the bushing 8. The coulter 4 is secured to a flange 3 on the hub 2. Before assembly the sealing ring 17, which is preferably felt, is rectangular in cross-section.
