Abstract

667,913. Seats. BELISLE, A. J. May 3, 1950. No. 10876/50. Class 52 (ii). A chair having a base and a seat rockably mounted thereon is provided with a device for locking the seat and holding it in adjusted position. The chair comprises a base 1 consisting of side members 2 connected by at least one transverse member 4 and the seat 3 is mounted rockably on the base in any convenient manner and consists of side members 12 connected by at least one transverse member 14. On the transverse member 4 is mounted a U-shaped bracket 22 within which is loosely pivoted on a pin 32 a, locking rod 30 which on the transverse member 14 is mounted another U-shaped bracket or plate 42 having arranged thereon a guide member 50 through a hole 52 in which passes the locking rod 30. The member 50 is screw-threaded for the engagement therewith of the end of an actuating rod 60 a shoe 62 being loosely positioned between the end of the rod 60 and the locking rod 30 for locking engagement therewith. The opposite end of the actuating rod 60 and the end of an operating rod 80 are coupled together by a coupling 70 and the rod 80 is provided with a handle 92. A stop member 90 on the rod 80 limits the rotation of the rod 80 in either direction by its outwardly extending portion abutting the transverse member 14.
